Skottur is the sponsor of the Women’s Day Off 2010. This unique platform is an exective body formed by all major women movements and organisations in Iceland to sponsor joint equal rights campaigns. The name “skotturnar” refers to “skott-húfa”, the head wear of the Icelandic national costume for women.
Though being the sponsor of the Women’s Day Off 2010, the Skottur ise so only in a formal sense, overseeing practical neccessities in the preperations and financing of this large international event. The Women’s Day Off is rooted in a collective equal rights action, in which everyone is encouraged to take part in.
The following clubs and associations are the founding members of Skottur:
- Icelandic Women’s Association – Kvenfélagasamband Íslands
- Icelandic Women‘s Rights Association
